You Will Change Your Mind

For my research of a subject of childfree choice, I conducted interviews with women from various countries, who decided not to have children for one or another reason. This audio installation represents a selection of phrases the interviewees shared with me, which they were addressed on almost daily basis by people from their circles as a consistent pressure to have children. The intensity of the audio installation aims to represent that pressure many women experience.
For the exhibition in Estonia, I decided to include phrases publicly told by far-right Estonian politicians in regards of women’s childbearing role for a society. The final piece was produced with the actors in English, Russian and Estonian.
